Serving patients seeking LASIK surgery in Charlotte and the surrounding area

Dr. Ivan Mac is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in LASIK and other refractive surgeries. The founder of Metrolina Eye Associates, a comprehensive eye care practice with facilities in North and South Carolina, Dr. Mac has been named one of the nation’s top refractive surgeons by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. Once a LASIK patient himself, Dr. Mac takes a patient-centered approach to LASIK, ensuring that his patients are educated on the procedure, which is performed using the latest, FDA-approved technology for the most optimal visual outcome.

In addition to LASIK surgery, Dr. Mac provides cataract surgery procedures (including the “no-stitch, no-needle” procedure), general and pediatric eye care and cosmetic eyelid surgery.

If you are in the Charlotte area and wish to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Mac, please contact Metrolina Eye Associates by calling the Monroe office at (704) 289-5455 or the Matthews office at (704) 234-1930.

LASIK Surgery at Metrolina Eye Associates

Dr. Mac provides LASIK vision correction to patients who want to eliminate, or at the least greatly reduce, their dependence on glasses and contact lenses. Using the latest and fastest laser technology, the Allegretto Wave, Dr. Mac creates a tiny flap in the cornea (the thin, transparent film on the eye’s front surface) and then reshapes the cornea so that it reflects light properly onto the retina. This entire procedure takes less than 20 minutes, and is painless, as patients typically report feeling only a slight pressure. The corneal flap closes naturally, without stitches, and patients notice improved vision within 24 hours of surgery. And since there is hardly any downtime afterward, patients can resume their normal daily routine the day after surgery.

Patient Testimonials

“I have worn glasses since I was in the 2nd grade. I was told my eyes would level off when I turned 18, but they didn’t. I was -13.00 and had astigmatism. When I went to contacts because my glasses were so thick I could only wear the hard ones. Dr. Mac introduced me to the ReSTOR lens and I now have perfect vision. My whole life has changed!” —Kelly G.

“I chose LASIK because I was tired of dealing with contacts which weren’t comfortable. I wanted to see well all the time. I have a very demanding job in the medical field…. I saw LASIK as an investment in myself. The surgery was easier than I thought. The fact that you actually met the doctor through the whole process from Day 1 introduction till the end, makes a huge difference. This is the best clinic of all medical facilities and friendliest staff around. Don’t wait years – just do it! Words can’t describe the feeling. I am just ecstatic with the whole place. Best experience I have ever had. Doctor Mac is the nicest doctor around and the staff the friendliest, hippest around. I couldn’t believe I waited so long to do it! The LASIK procedure met my expectations, and I had high expectations. My vision is now 20/20!” —Diane

“I’d worn glasses since I was 8 years old. I had considered LASIK for a couple of years, and after I did my research, I chose Dr. Mac over all the other surgeons because he explained the procedure better than anyone else and put me completely at ease. After the procedure, the healing process was simple and easy! I really enjoy my new life without glasses and I can do a lot of activities outdoors that I couldn’t do before. My choice to have LASIK here was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Thank you Dr. Mac, and thank you Grace!” —R.W. Hunter
