More About Vision Correction at Vista Eye Specialists
Dr. Jani provides precise visual outcomes by using only the most up-to-date laser technology for his vision correction procedures. Some of the advanced technology Dr. Jani uses for his patients include IntraLase femtosecond laser, Allegretto excimer laser and VISX STAR S4 excimer laser technology, with CustomVue wavefront guidance.
Before starting the LASIK procedure, Dr. Jani uses CustomVue wavefront-guided imaging technology to capture a unique fingerprint-like map of the eye’s abnormalities, including nearly imperceptible visual errors called “higher-order aberrations.” He calibrates the excimer laser used to reshape the curvature of the cornea with this information.
To start bladeless, all-laser iLASIK surgery, Dr. Jani creates a flap on the surface of the cornea using the IntraLase femtosecond laser, which reduces the risk of flap complications. The corneal flap is gently lifted back to reveal the underlying corneal tissue. Using the calibrated excimer laser, Dr. Jani re-shapes the curvature of the cornea, thereby correcting the eye’s refractive error causing nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. Once he is satisfied with the new shape of the cornea, he carefully repositions the corneal flap in its original place, where it naturally binds without the need for sutures.
Most of Dr. Jani’s laser vision correction patients find that the procedure is painless. LASIK generally provides a dramatic improvement in vision within 24 to 48 hours of surgery. In many cases, Dr. Jani’s patients no longer have to depend on glasses or contact lenses to see well, with many individuals achieving 20/20 vision.
