Additional Information on Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center

The surgeons of Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center use their surgical expertise combined with the latest technology to treat their patients’ eye care needs. Using advanced “no-stitch” procedures, Drs. Mike and Paul Mann have performed more than 30,000 cataract surgeries to help Austin, Katy and cataracts patients achieve clear vision. Unlike older lens replacement technologies, which provided for clear distance vision but left patients dependent on bifocals or reading glasses following surgery, the advanced lens technologies available at Mann Eye Institute Cataract Centers make it possible for patients to work on the computer, read, and see the dashboard with clarity. Recent studies have demonstrated that 83 percent of patients who chose premium lenses are able to rid themselves of glasses or contact lenses for functional vision.

At Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center, patients have access to the most advanced laser vision correction procedures available, including custom bladeless LASIK with CustomVue and the Allegretto Wave excimer laser. Unlike conventional LASIK surgery, which involves the use of a microkeratome blade for the creation of the corneal flap, Blade-Free LASIK uses the IntraLase femtosecond laser.

The Houston and Katy LASIK centers were the first facilities in Texas to provide bladeless LASIK with the Allegretto excimer laser. The Allegretto excimer laser platform includes wavefront technology, a revolutionary advancement that improves quality of vision during daylight and helps prevent the problems LASIK patients sometimes have with night vision. The Allegretto system also has a unique eye-tracking feature that automatically adjusts the excimer laser to accommodate changes in pupil size during treatment.

The CustomVue LASIK procedure combines the 3-D Active Tracker system, WaveScan technology and the VISX STAR 4 excimer laser. The WaveScan device identifies and measures imperfections 25 times more accurately than conventional methods, while the 3-D Active Tracker feature follows and monitors the movement of the eye 60 times per second during LASIK. The combination of these features allows the VISX STAR 4 excimer laser to provide continuous treatment, leading to higher levels of precision, safety and comfort.

Testimonials from Patients of Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center

“I walked in the office and less than 24 hours later, I had great vision. LASIK at Mann Eye Institute was the best decision of my life.” —Mike Gallo, Professional Baseball Player

“The entire staff at the Mann Eye Institute was great, and I really felt at ease about a potentially intimidating procedure. And after seeing how pleased I was with my results, my wife went in and had her vision corrected too. I can’t say enough good things about our experiences with the Mann Eye Institute!” —Chris Rice, Radio Personality

Heather, Radio Personality

“I’m Heather White from the KASE Morning Crew! I had Blade-Free LASIK with the ALLEGRETTO WAVE Eye-Q laser at Mann Eye Institute, and it was a life-changing experience! I can see! The silliest things thrill me: I can read the clock in the morning! I can see myself in the mirror! I can go swimming and never have to worry about glasses or contacts!! I especially loved how the people at Mann Eye Institute treated me like a VIP from the minute I walked in their office. My vision is now 20/15, better than when I was a kid! I love the fact that I can send my friends (and my husband!) to MEI with complete confidence. I love that Drs. Mike & Paul Mann are so respected and esteemed by their peers, too. They have great bedside manner and explained everything from start to finish, calming any nerves I had. From the first consultation through the follow-up appointments, my whole experience at Mann Eye Institute was incredible.” —Heather, Radio Personality

Roxanne, Radio Personality

“Thanks to the Mann Eye Institute, worrying about my vision is a thing of the past. Hi, I’m Roxanne Wilson from Family Friendly Mornings on 102.3 The River. I had Blade-Free LASIK with the ALLEGRETTO WAVE Eye-Q laser from the Mann Eye institute and nothing has ever been the same. Glasses and contacts have been a part of my life since I was six years old! But from the moment I opened my eyes after my procedure, I had better vision than I could ever imagine, 20/15!

Making the decision to have LASIK wasn’t easy for me. I mean after all we are talking about my eyes. But after meeting all of the wonderful staff at Mann Eye Institute (and drilling them with every question imaginable) I was confident that if LASIK was the way to go, then Mann Eye Institute was the ONLY place to get it. And now here I am, utterly satisfied with my choice to trust the Mann Eye Institute. My friends and River listeners time and time again have gone to Mann Eye and been pleased not only with the procedure, but with the service. If you are even the least bit curious about the LASIK procedure, sitting down with the Mann Eye Institute is a must!” —Roxanne, Radio Personality

“The reason I chose Dr. Mann is simply because he is the best. He is one of the pioneers of the LASIK procedure and he has a tremendous reputation. When dealing with something as delicate as eye surgery, I wanted to be sure I was in the hands of the best.” —Lee Labrada
