More About LASIK Vision Correction at LasikPlus
At the LasikPlus Detroit location, Dr. Todd Adelson utilizes sophisticated, extremely precise laser technology for personally tailored vision correction treatment. His state-of-the-art practice is equipped with wavefront diagnostic and excimer laser technology to produce optimal surgical results.
Before starting LASIK surgery, the LasikPlus eye surgeon uses the wavefront imaging system to make a unique “fingerprint,” or map, of the eye’s distinct refractive errors. Wavefront technology is so accurate that it can identify even nearly imperceptible eye errors called “higher order aberrations.” The ophthalmologist then uses this map to calibrate the excimer laser that reshapes the curvature of the cornea.
To start the procedure, the surgeon makes a miniscule flap in the cornea’s surface. He gently lifts back the flap, and employs the adjusted excimer laser to remove microscopic particles of corneal tissue, meanwhile correcting the refractive error causing farsightedness, nearsightedness and/or astigmatism. Once he is satisfied with the new shape of the cornea, he puts the corneal flap back in its original place, where is naturally re-bonds to the eye without a need for sutures.
Those who undergo LASIK in Detroit with Dr. Adelson are happy to report that the procedure is not painful, and that they generally notice improved vision within 24 to 48 hours after LASIK surgery. Many times, Dr. Adelson’s patients can see clearly while forgoing their daily dependence on prescription eyewear. In addition, more than 99 percent of patients achieve 20/20 vision or better.
