Before starting LASIK surgery, the LasikPlus eye surgeon uses the wavefront imaging system to make a unique “fingerprint,” or map, of the eye’s distinct refractive errors. Wavefront technology is so accurate that it can identify even nearly imperceptible eye errors called “higher order aberrations.” The ophthalmologist then uses this map to calibrate the excimer laser that reshapes the curvature of the cornea.
To start the procedure, the surgeon makes a miniscule flap in the cornea’s surface.
