Katzen Eye Care – LASIK Eye Surgery in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Florida
Lawrence Katzen, MD, is among the most experienced refractive surgeons in South Florida and has helped thousands of patients enjoy improved sight through the latest advancements in vision correction. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained eye surgeon recognized for his expertise in LASIK surgery by his peers and has performed LASIK on more eye doctors in Palm Beach County than any other eye surgeon.
The eye surgeons at Katzen Eye Center strive to stay on the leading edge of advancements in vision correction surgery. Dr. Katzen is one of only 20 surgeons selected to participate in FDA clinical trials where new refractive surgery techniques and technologies are developed and refined. His center was the first in South Florida dedicated to laser vision correction and the first physician-owned center to permanently incorporate the “All Laser LASIK” or “Blade Free” surgical technique for laser vision correction (known as Intralase). Dr. Katzen is a coveted speaker who lectures to other doctors — both in the United States and internationally — about advancements in vision correction surgery. He also serves as an instructor at the primary eye surgery courses offered by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
As a West Palm Beach LASIK surgeon, Dr. Katzen feels strongly about the life-changing benefits of vision correction surgery and has had LASIK performed on his own eyes. He volunteers his time to project ORBIS, a flying eye surgery hospital where vision correction surgery is performed on underprivileged patients around the world. He brings his extensive background, experience, the most advanced laser technology and his unique perspective on LASIK surgery to the care of each patient.
More About Katzen Eye Center
Each patient is meticulously examined at the Katzen Eye Center, which helps Dr. Katzen determine the best option for refractive surgery. For LASIK surgery, the VISX Star 4 Custom laser system is used. This wavefront-guided laser system provides a highly accurate measure of the cornea’s curvature. Before correcting the shape of the cornea with the laser, a corneal flap is made using the Intralase technique, or “All Laser LASIK,” which provides better precision. In addition to LASIK surgery, CK surgery (conductive keratoplasty for the correction of nearsightedness) and PRK are available. Dr. Katzen and his surgical team also offer the latest IOLs (intraocular lenses), including the Verisyse, for those highly myopic patients who do not qualify for LASIK, as well as the Crystalens, ReSTOR and ReZoom artificial lenses, which simultaneously correct for reading and distance vision. The newly approved Visian ICL or implantable contact lens is also available.
