Bladeless LASIK at Ellis Eye & Laser Medical Center

Dr. Ellis is a distinguished member of several prestigious ophthalmologic organizations.
Dr. William Ellis focuses his practice on performing bladeless LASIK. This procedure combines the Bausch & Lomb 217 excimer laser with advanced surface ablation in order to eliminate the need for any bladed instruments. This approach usually results in crystal-clear vision and minimal discomfort.
In order to deliver the most precise LASIK treatment possible, Dr. Ellis uses a sophisticated technology that creates a map of the patient’s cornea. This map, which shows even the minutest imperfections in corneal shape, is used to program the excimer laser. The excimer laser corrects the imperfections in the cornea so that it refracts light rays more precisely. As a result, the patient perceives clear images at all distances.
Prior to administering the excimer laser treatment, Dr. Ellis must create a small flap in the outermost layer of the cornea. He uses advanced surface ablation to perform this task. Dr. Ellis then folds the flap out of the way and reshapes the underlying tissues with the excimer laser. The corneal flap is then replaced in its original position and serves as a natural bandage.
