More about Cataract Surgery at TOC Eye
Cataract removal is a short and virtually painless procedure. To remove the cataract, a small incision is made in the surface of the eye. The capsule holding the eye’s lens is gently opened and the cataract-diseased lens is fragmented. The pieces are removed from the eye with gentle suction. An intraocular lens (IOL) is inserted to replace the eye’s natural lens, and the incision is carefully closed. Recovery is typically short and vision stabilizes within a week.
Patients have a choice in their IOL. The team at TOC Eye offers a variety of IOLs, including multifocal and accommodative lenses, which restore vision at multiple distances. The doctors work with every patient individually to select the IOL that is right for their visual and lifestyle needs.
