Serving patients seeking cataract surgery with intraocular lens implants, including Crystalens HD, in St. Joseph and the surrounding area
Stephen Wiles, MD, FACS, and Erin T. Gilliland, MD, are board-certified ophthalmologists who are among the nation’s leading cataract surgeons. Dr. Wiles, the founder of Wiles Eye Center, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Gilliland is a highly skilled cataract surgeon who has published articles on a wide range of topics relating to eye diseases, including glaucoma and retinopathy. Dr. Wiles and Dr. Gilliland have a proven track record of providing unsurpassed vision correction results while focusing on safety and maximum patient comfort.
The eye surgeons of Wiles Eye Center perform the advanced “no-stitch, no-patch” cataract surgery technique, during which the eye’s clouded lens is carefully removed through a tiny, self-sealing incision. To successfully remove the cataract, Dr. Wiles and Dr. Gilliland use an ultrasonic probe to break up and suction out the clouded lens. This sophisticated process is also known as phacoemulsification. Next, the cataract is replaced with an intraocular lens implant (IOL) designed to maximize the eye’s best possible vision. At Wiles Eye Center, patients have a number of options when choosing the IOL that will serve their unique vision needs, including Crystalens HD, AMO Tecnis Multifocal, Bausch and Lomb H60, Alcon ReSTOR + 3 or AO intraocular lenses.
Dr. Wiles and his medical staff are committed to promoting a lifetime of clear vision through cataract surgery and other vision correction procedures. To learn if you are a candidate for cataract surgery, contact Wiles Eye Center at (816) 279-7015.
