Serving Patients Seeking Cataract Surgery in Fredericksburg and the Surrounding Area

Binoy R. Jani, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology who has been treating Fredericksburg cataract surgery patients for more than a decade. A respected authority in his field, Dr. Jani serves as assistant clinical professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia. He is also the author of several papers that have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, including the American Journal of Ophthalmology, the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists Journal, Cornea and Ophthalmology. At Vista Eye Specialists, Dr. Jani combines his thorough knowledge of ophthalmology with attentive patient care to provide exceptional vision correction results.

Dr. Jani performs “micro-incision, no-stitch” cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants, or IOLs. He begins the procedure by making a self-sealing incision in the eye, through which the eye’s cataractous (cloudy) lens is removed. This step of the process involves the use of the sophisticated phacoemulsification technique, during which an ultrasound device is employed to break up and irrigate the eye’s natural lens, for easy extraction. Dr. Jani replaces the cataract-diseased eye lens with an IOL to restore clear sight after the procedure. Vista Eye Specialists offers a wide range of advanced-technology IOLs, including: astigmatism-correcting toric lenses; Crystalens to help patients see in the distance and for their intermediate vision; and multifocal lenses, which allow individuals to see in the distance, at intermediate distances and close up. Cataract surgery is generally completely painless and is performed under topical anesthesia with IV sedation. Cataract patients who receive surgical treatment from Dr. Jani typically achieve improved vision at several distances and are often able to reduce their daily dependence on prescription eyewear greatly, depending on the lens (IOL) technology they choose.

Aside from cataract surgery, Dr. Jani also offers iLASIK laser vision correction, PRK, corneal transplantation, treatment for glaucoma, treatment for diabetic eye diseases, treatment for dry eye, including LipiFlow, and several other vision correction procedures. He also performs eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and can provide BOTOX Cosmetic treatment.

What Do Patients Say About Dr. Jani?

“Very pleased with the excellent Dr. Jani & my recent cataract surgery–I had both eyes done with challenging astigmatism issues. Professional and knowledgeable office staff member Heather notified me of two cancellations, so I was very happy to take those appointments. She also gave good information re type of lenses available and researched insurance issues for me. I highly recommend.”

– Janice G.

“I had refractive lens exchange procedures in August, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. What a treat to be able to cast aside the glasses that previously I had to wear for everything I did.”

– Cindy L.

“Just had my LASIK yesterday. Amazing immediate results! I am now seeing 20/15 after years of dealing with contacts and glasses. So happy I finally made this decision!”

– Candice T.
