Central New Jersey Cataract Surgery with InVision Eye Care Specialists

Edward Hedaya, MD, FAAO, and Ashwinee Ragam, MD, are accomplished board-certified ophthalmologists specializing in cataract surgery in Central New Jersey at InVision Eye Care Specialists. They have devoted many years of education and training to mastering the techniques and technology used in modern cataract surgery. Countless patients have benefited from Dr. Hedaya and Dr. Ragam’s cataract surgery expertise — specifically, their expertise in laser cataract surgery. By replacing some of the traditional instruments and techniques with a state-of-the-art laser, the doctors can enhance visual outcomes while minimizing some of the risk of complications. They are continually looking for new ways to improve the surgical experience for their patients.

Cataract Surgery in Central New Jersey

Cataracts are a normal part of the aging process. With time, cellular changes in the naturally clear lens cause the lens to become hazy and yellow. These changes interfere with sharp, detailed vision. Cataract surgery is performed to remove the hazy lens and replace it with an artificial lens (referred to as an intraocular lens, or IOL) to help the patient see clearly.

Dr. Hedaya and Dr. Ragam specialize in laser cataract surgery. Instead of using conventional handheld instruments, they harness the power of laser energy to carry out many important stages of the procedure. (Their preferred laser platform is the LenSx system.) This approach provides patients with the best vision possible with lowered risks. Once the natural lens has been removed, the doctors place a pre-selected IOL that restores sharp vision.

In addition to performing cataract surgery, Dr. Hedaya provides training on the subject of LenSx technology to his fellow surgeons. He is happy to be a mentor and a coach to his colleagues, sharing his understanding of the technological nuances of the LenSx platform and helping other surgeons optimize their results.

Dr. Hedaya, Dr. Ragam and the team at InVision Eye Care Specialists also offer laser vision correction and medical and surgical treatments for other eye diseases. For information about the practice’s available services, please call 800-724-3275 today.
