Cataract Surgery with Dr. Seibel
Dr. Seibel performs advanced “micro-incision, no-stitch” cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens (IOL) implants. He starts cataract surgery by creating a self-sealing incision in the eye, which he uses to gain access to the eye’s cataract-diseased lens. Dr. Seibel then utilizes an ultrasound device to break up the cataractous, or cloudy, crystalline lens into small pieces before suctioning or flushing them out of the eye. Once Dr. Seibel has removed the cataractous lens, he replaces it with an intraocular lens implant (IOL), so the patient can see clearly following surgery. Seibel Vision Surgery offers a variety of premium IOLs to reduce or eliminate dependence on eyeglasses, including the Crystalens; ReSTOR and Tecnis multifocal lenses so patients can see well at multiple distances; and toric lenses to correct astigmatism.
Cataract surgery is performed under topical anesthesia using drops with the goal of eliminating pain while avoiding needle injections. Dr. Seibel’s cataract surgery patients typically notice significantly improved vision, and in some cases they are able to greatly decrease their reliance on prescription glasses or contact lenses.
In addition to cataract surgery, Seibel Vision Surgery also offers Refractive Lens Exchange surgery for appropriate patients without significant cataracts who nonetheless want the freedom from glasses that advanced lens implants can facilitate. Glaucoma evaluation and treatment is offered as well as general medical eye care and evaluation.
