Serving patients seeking cataract surgery with premium IOLs in Austin and the surrounding area

Austin Eye offers a range of other eye care services.

Shannon Wong, MD, John Odette, MD and Marie Bui, MD, are board-certified ophthalmologists who comprise the medical and surgical team of Austin Eye, a comprehensive eye care practice serving Austin cataract surgery patients in two convenient locations. The eye surgeons of Austin Eye are committed to providing their patients with the finest technology and the latest surgical techniques. They strive to deliver the same quality of eye care they would hope to receive themselves.

The eye surgeons at Austin Eye perform advanced “no-stitch” cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants (IOLs). The procedure is performed under local eye-drop anesthesia and takes about 10 to 20 minutes. During surgery, a self-sealing incision is created on the surface of the eye. Next, a technique called phacoemulsification is used to extract the eye’s cataract-diseased lens, which is then replaced with an artificial lens implant designed to provide clear vision at most distances. Austin Eye offers the most advanced IOLs, including Tecnis Multifocal, AcrySof ReSTOR, the accommodating Crystalens and astigmatism-correcting toric lenses.

In addition to “no-stitch” cataract surgery, Austin Eye is pleased to offer care for Austin cataract surgeon patients, using the advanced LenSx laser. They are the first and only practice to offer this modern technology. The skilled ophthalmologists of Austin Eye also offer bladeless LASIK eye surgery and a range of other eye care services, including lens implant surgery, glaucoma treatment, diabetic eye care, corneal transplantation surgery, reconstructive eyelid surgery as well as routine eye exams and cosmetic facial rejuvenation treatments with Botox and Juvederm injectables. All procedures are performed at the Austin Eye Laser and Surgical Center, a state-of-the-art facility that is certified by Medicare and accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

What Do Patients Say About the Eye Surgeons of Austin Eye?

“I’ve been going to Dr. Shannon Wong for over 5 years. He’s extremely good. I have a couple of eye conditions that he monitors that have a variety of treatment options. He’s very up front about what the risks and costs are. He’s consoled me to hold off on a specific procedure that might help my vision until he’s sure it will help. He’s extremely competent, explains everything very thoroughly and treats you like you’re an intelligent participant in your own eye care. Additionally, he’s just a nice guy. His nursing staff is also very competent and friendly…” —Marc S.
