Cataract Surgery at Eye Care of San Diego

During cataract surgery, Dr. Bokosky creates an incision in the eye and an opening in the clear membrane or capsule that holds the cloudy lens. The surgeon breaks up the lens using ultrasound or laser energy, and gently removes the pieces. Then, the surgeon positions an artificial lens implant in the same capsule that held the natural lens. The lens is pre-selected based on the individual patient’s visual needs and goals after surgery. In addition to standard lenses, Dr. Bokosky offers premium lenses such as the Crystalens or Trulign lenses, which offer a natural range of vision at multiple distances and reduced dependence on glasses.

Cataract surgery is a very safe and routine procedure that yields excellent outcomes when performed by an experienced surgeon. Incorporating key pieces of technology into cataract removal helps to improve the precision and accuracy of treatment as well as the visual outcomes. Patients are able to see better than ever before, thanks to the latest technology.
