Serving Patients Seeking Cataract Surgery in Everett and the Surrounding Area

Bruce J. Ballon, MD, Bruce E. Wietharn, MD, and Natalia V. Bajenova, MD, are premier Seattle cataract surgeons who are certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. An innovative ophthalmologist, Dr. Ballon was the first surgeon in Washington to use the ReZoom multifocal lens implant after cataract surgery. As a Fellow of the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute, Dr. Wietharn offers specialized expertise in cornea and refractive surgery. Fluent in Russian, Dr. Bajenova is an attentive physician and meticulous eye surgeon who is dedicated to providing personalized patient care. The ophthalmologists at the Harman Eye Clinic recognize that delivering excellence in patient care and vision correction treatment does not come by accident. They have achieved excellence in their field by insisting on the highest surgical and performance standards. The laser eye surgeons at the Harman Eye Clinic use only state-of-the-art technology when performing cataract surgery, bladeless iLASIK surgery and other vision correction treatments.

Drs. Ballon, Wietharn and Bajenova perform state-of-the-art “no-stitch, micro-incision” cataract surgery with advanced intraocular lens implants (IOLs). They start the procedure by creating an extremely small incision in the eye, which heals on its own, without the need for sutures. The eye surgeons access the eye’s cataractous (cloudy) crystalline lens through this incision. Then, with a technique called “phacoemulsification,” the Seattle cataract surgeons utilize ultrasound energy to break up the cataract-diseased eye lens prior to suctioning or flushing out the fragments from the eye. Then they insert an IOL to restore clear vision. At the Harman Eye Clinic, the surgeons provide a range of IOL options, including premium IOLs. These include astigmatism-correcting toric lenses; Tecnis multifocal IOLs, which help patients see well at several distances; and a number of other premium IOLs.

Performed under topical anesthesia, cataract surgery is painless. Harman Eye Clinic cataract surgery patients achieve clearer vision at multiple distances and, often, are able to reduce or eliminate entirely their daily dependence on contact lenses and glasses.

In addition to cataract surgery, the laser eye surgeons at the Harman Eye Clinic also provide bladeless iLASIK, PRK, refractive lens exchange (RLE), treatment for diabetic eye diseases, treatment for macular degeneration, glaucoma treatment and several other eye care services.

To schedule a consultation with Dr. Ballon, Dr. Wietharn or Dr. Bajenova and find out more about your vision correction treatment options, please contact the Harman Eye Clinic by calling (800) 513-0780 today.
