Cataract Surgeon San Antonio - Serving patients seeking cataract surgery in San Antonio and the surrounding area
Kenneth Maverick, MD, and James Lehmann, MD, are board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologists with two decades of collective experience treating San Antonio cataract surgery patients. Both ophthalmologists have been featured across various media outlets, including appearing on the television show, “Great Day SA.” Drs. Maverick and Lehmann are highly decorated for their work in the field of ophthalmology. The Consumers’ Research Council of America has recognized both doctors as being among “America’s Top Ophthalmologists,” for several years running. Dr. Maverick has also been named one of the “Best Physicians in San Antonio” by San Antonio Magazine and one of the “Best Doctors in America” for ophthalmology by his peers, as reported by Best Doctors, Inc. In addition to working in private practice, Dr. Lehmann serves as assistant clinical faculty member at the UT Health Science Center. He is also dedicated to giving back to the community at large through his many volunteer efforts, including performing volunteer clinical and surgical duties at the I Care Clinic and traveling abroad multiple times a year to teach and perform surgery, in countries such as Mexico, Peru and Israel. Drs. Maverick and Lehmann provide this same high level of dedication to patient care and vision correction treatment each day at Focal Point Vision.
Drs. Maverick and Lehmann and their team at Focal Point Vision perform leading-edge laser cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants (IOLs). Using the advanced LenSx femtosecond laser platform, the cataract surgeon begins the procedure by making a self-sealing incision in the eye. Then, using a sophisticated technique called “phacoemulsification, he employs an ultrasound device to fragment the cataract-diseased lens for easy removal. The cataractous lens is replaced with an IOL that allows the patient to see clearly after surgery. Focal Point Vision offers a wide variety of IOL options, including standard IOLs and premium IOL options, such as toric IOLs that correct astigmatism; ReSTOR and other multifocal lenses that allow patients to see well at multiple distances; and the Crystalens and Trulign IOL, which are called “accommodating IOLs” and change shape to improve near vision.
For the vast majority of patients, cataract surgery is a pain-free procedure, thanks to topical anesthetic eye drops and regional anesthesia. Depending on the type of IOL chosen, patients are able to reduce or eliminate their dependence on prescription glasses.
In addition to cataract surgery, Focal Point Vision offers LASIK, PRK, implantable contact lens (ICL) surgery, corneal transplantation, glaucoma treatment, treatment for keratoconus, pterygium surgery and even blepharoplasty, which is a procedure to remove excess skin and fat from drooping upper eyelids, for a refreshed look and improved line of sight and peripheral vision.
