More About Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center
The doctors at Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center combine surgical experience and leading-edge technology to treat all of their patients’ eye care needs. They possess extensive experience having performed more than 30,000 cataract surgeries to help Katy, Austin and laser cataract surgery patients see clearly with “no-stitch” procedures. Previous lens replacement technologies only provided for clear distance vision, leaving patients dependent on reading glasses or bifocals after surgery for good vision. The advanced lens technologies at Mann Eye Institute Cataract Centers make it possible for patients to read, work on the computer and see the dashboard better than before. Recent studies have shown that 83% of patients who chose a premium lens no longer are dependent on glasses or contact lenses for functional vision.
Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center offers the most advanced laser vision correction procedures available today — custom Blade-Free LASIK with the Allegretto Wave excimer laser and CustomVue LASIK — to help patients eliminate their dependency on glasses and contact lenses. Traditional LASIK surgery requires the use of a microkeratome blade to make a corneal flap while Blade-Free LASIK uses the IntraLase femtosecond laser to create a custom flap.
The LASIK centers in Houston and Katy were the first facilities in Texas to offer Blade-Free LASIK with the Allegretto excimer laser. Refractive surgery performed with the Allegretto excimer laser incorporates WaveFront technology, which not only improves the quality of vision during daylight but also helps prevent the problems LASIK patients sometimes have with night vision. This technology also uses a unique eye-tracking system to automatically adjust the excimer laser to changes in a patient’s pupil size during treatment. Mann Eye Institute also offers cataracts.
CustomVue LASIK uses a combination of WaveScan technology, the 3-D Active Tracker system and the VISX STAR 4 excimer laser to help provide optimal results. WaveScan technology measures and identifies imperfections in a patient’s eye 25 times more accurately than traditional methods. The 3-D Active Tracker device follows and monitors the position of the eye 60 times per second during the LASIK procedure. This allows the VISX STAR 4 excimer laser to provide continuous treatment, which leads to a higher level of safety, precision and comfort.
