More About Vision Correction at The LASIK Vision Institute™
At The LASIK Vision Institute, Dr. Joseph employs sophisticated laser technology to provide patients with highly customized laser vision correction. The state-of-the-art Oklahoma City practice is well-equipped with VISX CustomVue wavefront technology that produces excellent laser vision correction results for individuals with differing refractive errors.
Before beginning the LASIK procedure, LVI uses the wavefront computer-guided imaging system to identify each patient’s vision errors. With this innovative technology, they can discern even higher order aberrations, the nearly invisible optic errors that other eye surgeons may miss. The laser eye surgeon then uses the diagnostic data gathered with the imaging system to calibrate the excimer laser. He will use the excimer laser during LASIK to reshape the patient’s cornea(s).
The LASIK procedure is simple and quick. Once Dr. Joseph is ready to start the procedure, he places anesthetic drops in the eye to ensure that the patient is comfortable throughout the process. To begin LASIK surgery, the surgeon uses a microkeratome, to create a flap on the outer surface of the cornea. Dr. Joseph carefully pulls back this flap to reveal the corneal tissue underneath. Then, he uses the calibrated excimer laser to re-sculpt the exposed tissue and correct the refractive error that is giving patients problems with near vision, distance vision or astigmatism.
The LASIK vision correction procedure typically takes about 15 minutes for both eyes and should not be painful. Most LASIK eye surgery patients notice a dramatic improvement in their vision immediately after the LASIK procedure. Many achieve 20/20 vision within a year following LASIK surgery, and many can forgo wearing glasses or contact lenses.
