Dr. Richard Rothman is a board-certified ophthalmologist whose primary focus is laser vision correction. He has performed nearly 60,000 LASIK and PRK procedures and has helped spearhead new advancements in corneal surgery for the past two decades. Dr. Rothman is the co-developer of a specialized instrument for corneal surgery (created while he was serving as a research fellow at Harvard Medical School), and in 1995 he became one of the first certified excimer laser surgeons in Northern California.

Dr. Rothman serves as senior surgeon and medical director of LASIK of Nevada. Each member of his team has been individually selected and trained is all aspects of evaluation and treatment by Dr. Rothman. Dr. Rothman’s practice features the newest LASIK technology — the Allegretto wavefront-optimized excimer laser system — as well as eye-tracking lasers and scanning slit laser technologies. The wavefront-guided treatments use a customized laser beam profile to achieve the desired visual result.
For patients who are not good candidates for LASIK, Dr. Rothman offers treatments such as PRK surgery. He also offers conductive keratoplasty (CK) to improve reading vision. Dr. Rothman and his staff conduct careful examinations of every patient to determine which laser eye procedure will best meet their needs.
