Serving patients seeking cataract surgery in Palm Beach and the surrounding areas

Drs. David Mittleman and Eric Medina of Mittleman Eye are top cataract surgeons who have treated thousands of patients in the Palm Beach area. The two surgeons combine their specialized training with state-of-the-art technology to provide safe treatment and exceptional visual results.

Cataract surgery involves removing the eye’s natural lens that has become clouded over time. Once removed, the lens is replaced with an artificial lens (IOL) to restore vision. Both Dr. Mittleman and Dr. Medina are trained and skilled in custom cataract surgery, which can address two common vision conditions: astigmatism and presbyopia. By utilizing a precise surgical technique and implanting an advanced IOL that addresses the astigmatism or presbyopia, custom cataract surgery can achieve a better visual outcome, with a decreased dependence on distance, computer and reading glasses.

In addition to cataract surgery, Mittleman Eye offers comprehensive eye care, including routine eye exams, and treatment for various eye conditions, including dry eye, corneal diseases, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal disease.

More about Custom Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery can be completed in approximately 15 to 20 minutes per eye. During the procedure, a small incision is made in the eye to remove the natural lens from its capsule. An IOL is then gently put into place to restore vision after surgery. In the case of astigmatism, Dr. Mittleman or Dr. Medina can make a precise corneal incision to correct the condition and then implant a Toric IOL. For patients with presbyopia, the surgeons can place a presbyopia-correcting lens for a marked decrease in dependency on glasses, contact lens and bifocals. In any case, visual recovery is rapid; most patients notice an improvement in their vision the following day.

“I have been a patient of Dr. Mittleman for years. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone, as I referred my own mother for cataract surgery. He and Dr. Luzon are the most knowledgeable and skilled, as well as very thorough in answering all of your questions and do not rush you in and out. In addition, all of the staff is kind and caring. I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. They are the BEST!” —Madeline P.

“I appreciated the thoroughness of Mittleman Eye office staff. Underwent a series of tests, none painful, to determine my eye health. The nurses, assistants and doctors were careful, quick, caring and through. It culminated with a visit and examination from Dr. Mittleman, who clearly and carefully explained what was required and what could be postponed to a later date. I will certainly recommend this office to my associates. What a change from New York City’s opticians that I have used in the past!” —Roger L.
